We proudly collaborate with highly qualified teachers, many with 10+ years of classroom experience, ensuring every learner receives personalised attention and expert academic guidance.

Application & Orientation Fees

To maintain the quality of our online learning environment and student support services, the following one-time fees apply:

Student Application Fee: USD $100 (non-refundable)
- Payable at the time of application submission.
Parental Orientation Fee: USD $25
- Applies only to high school applicants (Form 1–6).
- Payable after admission is confirmed and billed during the acceptance period.
- Covers participation in the Insight Week Orientation, which prepares parents to effectively support online learning at home.

Students must maintain respectful behavior and academic honesty at all times. Misconduct may result in suspension or expulsion.

1. Policy Statement

Mangwana Academy is committed to protecting the welfare, dignity, and rights of all children and young people engaging with our learning environment—both online and offline. We recognize our duty of care to safeguard learners from all forms of abuse—physical, emotional, sexual, or neglect—and to promote digital wellbeing and responsible online behavior. This policy establishes our comprehensive safeguarding framework, supported by strong leadership oversight, operational protocols, staff training, and secure digital infrastructure.

2. Leadership and Management

• The school complies fully with all Zimbabwean child protection laws and international conventions, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. • The definition and principles of child protection are clearly communicated to board members, staff, students, parents, and volunteers. • A designated Child Protection Officer (CPO) oversees all safeguarding matters and reports directly to the Headmaster and the Board. • This policy is reviewed annually or upon legislative or procedural updates. • The school maintains confidential and secure records of incidents, disclosures, and referrals.

3. Procedures and Communication

• All staff, volunteers, and contractors undergo mandatory child protection and online safety training upon joining and annually thereafter. • Procedures are in place for: o Identification of abuse or neglect o Disclosure by students or staff o Reporting concerns to the CPO or relevant authorities • A confidential reporting address is available: safeguarding@mangwanaacademy.ac.zw o Reports may include cases of cyberbullying, inappropriate behavior, or emotional distress. • The policy is publicly accessible via the school website and introduced during student and staff orientation. • Learners and staff are regularly reminded of how and where to seek help. • The school works in collaboration with child welfare agencies, psychologists, and legal advisors to ensure appropriate interventions.

4. Recruitment and Conduct

• All potential staff, volunteers, and contractors are subject to: o Criminal background checks o Reference verification o Child protection suitability screening • Only individuals of sound moral and professional standing are engaged in roles involving contact with students. • Online and in-person interactions are governed by a Code of Conduct ensuring professionalism, respect, and clear boundaries.

5. Culture and Curriculum Integration

• The school promotes a culture of respect, inclusivity, and safety across all learning environments. • Child protection and online safety education are embedded into the curriculum through: o Digital citizenship modules o Cyberbullying and online ethics sessions o Mental health, resilience, and emotional wellbeing programs • Students are empowered to speak up without fear, ask questions, and report concerns confidently.

6. Online Environment and Safety

• The school’s digital platforms incorporate: o Secure authentication and access controls o Content moderation and user activity monitoring o Compliance with data privacy and protection regulations • Communication tools (chat, video, forums) are configured to prevent inappropriate contact and encourage safe digital interactions. • The school promotes healthy digital habits, including screen-time balance and online wellbeing. • All virtual classrooms and forums are actively monitored by trained staff for safeguarding compliance.

7. External Learning Environments

For learners participating in residential programs, exchanges, or homestay arrangements, the school ensures: • Vetting of host families and accommodation providers • Clear emergency contact protocols • Safety briefings and supervision plans prior to departure

8. Resources and Training

• Staff have access to continuous professional development through: o ECIS online workshops o Partnerships with local welfare agencies and legal consultants • A training log is maintained to ensure participation and compliance. • Ongoing education ensures staff remain up to date with emerging safeguarding issues and best practices.

9. Policy Review and Accountability

• The Child Protection Committee—comprising the CPO, school leadership, and legal advisors—reviews this policy annually. • Feedback from students, parents, and staff informs continuous improvement. • Breaches or non-compliance with this policy result in disciplinary measures and, where necessary, referral to relevant authorities.
